An interesting HBO documentary

I just watched a great documentary on HBO entitled "Transhood" (as in childhood or adulthood) It documents the lives, joys and struggles of 4 transgender kids and their families over a period of 5 years. The youngest is preschool and the oldest is 15 at the beginning of the film and they all live in Kansas City, not New York or Sam Francisco or Los Angeles. It's touching and challenging to watch as they age and progress through these years.

Mya Taylor is an American actress who is taking the industry by storm. She was a former sex worker, and now she is a force to be reckoned with, sweeping the industry with her portrayal of a transgender sex worker in Tangerine.

Her brilliant performance in the short film, which was shot on an iPhone 5, landed her the Independent Film Spirit Award. When Mya Taylor received the 2016 Spirit Award for Best Supporting Female, she became the first transgender actor to earn such an accomplishment. In fact, Mya Taylor was the first transgender actress ever to win a major film award. Taylor has added her voice to the fight for employment and recognition for transgender talent in the industry.
