    "Do you think I'm a freak or something?" Ryan asked timidly.

    "Of course not." Shawn reassured. You're one of the minority of people who don't fit in with their apparent birth gender. Kind of like me."

    "What does that mean, kind of like you?"

    "You know the term,'transsexual', right?" Shawn asked. "I mean, you must have seen something about it, like on TV or something."

    "Yeah like Jerry Springer."

    "No, I don't mean like that. It's..."

    "Yes I know what it is, Shawn. It's like someone who is born the wrong sex, or they feel like their body doesn't fir their mind 'n stuff."

    Shawn nodded.

    "Is that what you are?" ryan asked pointedly.

    "Well I think I'm more transgendered, actually."

    "What does that mean?"

    "I guess I kind of like to spend time in both worlds. Since I've known I felt this way for a long time and my parents have always been pretty liberal, I could have gone the whole way and become a woman by now if I'd wanted to. I just kind of like being both."
