"C.J., do I really have to wear this kind of uniform? I mean I look like a girl in it."

"Hardly a girl," he paused as he looked at my name tag. I had to wear it and so he had his run with it. "Ummm, DeeDee, Nice name. But you don't look like a girl, more like a sort of masculine woman. You're too tall to be a girl."

"I have requested another name tag. I don't know where thy found this one."

"They probably used to have a girl named DeeDee in this shop. She quit and left the tag. I think they have a large box of name tags they periodically dip into."

"That doesn't help me. They all call me 'DeeDee' and seem to think, with a name like that, I'm a girl. They only have one bathroom in this shop and it's for women. I've gone in with some of the employees partially clad and they didn't get upset by my entry. A couple of them have looked at me closely as I scooted out. I'm running a gauntlet just to relieve myself! Is this a plot to get me to quit?"

"Hardly DeeDee." When he saw me start to react to that name, he added, "Don't get in a huff. If you are upset, see your supervisor. Of course, if you want to make a case of it, imagine how they would feel if they knew you were a man. This way you can do your business without upsetting anybody."
