In the beginning we are introduced to a married couple, Doris, an up and coming executive at B. B. & D and her husband, Mark, a meek but skilled computer tech at the same company. Mark, however has an interesting sideline, he's a skilled ventriloquist. That semi-career has hit a snag, however, and the way out is to introduce a female dimmy to the act. A TV producer sees potential in the concept, but only if the ventriloquist, that is Mark, were a woman. It's a long strange trip...
