While exploring the remote regions of northern India, a small group of English officers hear of a remote valley and its capital city, Subbujah, known as the City of Splendor, with strange and exotic practices. They meet a man who encourages them to allow him to guide them to that city and experience its wonders.
They quickly become enmeshed in the politics of this strange society where many of the women were actually men before being forced into the feminine role. Soon it seems to be their fate as well!
